Job Title: Employment Specialist: Job Coach/Independent Living Skills Teacher
Starting in: Now. This is a 12-month, full-time position.
Job Description: Reports to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Job Center Coordinator.
The Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Job Center prepares individuals age 18 and up for the world of work. The Job Center provides job-readiness training, job placement, job coaching, and retention-support services.
While this position’s primary duties are job coaching and independent-living skills instruction, the individual will be asked to participate in other aspects of the Job Center’s programs.
Qualifications:
- An A.A. degree or higher preferred.
- Fluency in ASL (American Sign Language) required.
- Experience in job coaching and deaf-related issues preferred.
- Flexible hours and ability to work evenings and/or weekends.
- Access to an automobile required.
- Good organizational skills.
- Able to work in a team environment.
- Good problem-solving skills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for providing job-coach support services to deaf and hard-of-hearing program participants.
- Provide technical assistance to employers as needed.
- Assist customer in successful job acclimation.
- Provide input for appropriate work behaviors and conflict resolution.
- Provide instruction and guidance concerning independent-living skills.
- Maintain accurate progress notes.
- Other duties as assigned.
